Three Terrible Chelsea Player Comeback Suggestions
2012 has been the year of the comeback with Thierry Henry, Paul Scholes and Robbie Keane all returning to the Premier League.
Whilst the return of Robbie Keane and Thierry Henry is related to keeping fit and proving they can still cut it at the highest level, Paul Scholes shocked everyone when answering the call of a midfield light Manchester United.
Fans of Manchester United and Arsenal have been treated to the goal scoring returns of their returning heroes.
So with everyone else at it, who would or even who could Chelsea theoretically bring back?
I have had a look and pulled up some unlikely candidates, who are either still plying their trade or have retired within the last 12 months.
Wayne Bridge
A deliberately controversial selection given the water that has gone under the bridge since he left, however he could probably still do a job as third choice to Ashley Cole and Ryan Bertrand.
This would be a promotion for Bridge who is currently fourth choice left back at Manchester City picking up a reported £80k a week, not bad work if you can get it, I have already sent off my CV.
Ok so maybe not that viable but it would be funny to read the media hype that exploded if we got that rumour going.
William Gallas
Since leaving Chelsea under a cloud as part of the Ashley Cole deal he has captained Arsenal before falling out with them and moving to Tottenham.
He turned from a hero to hate figure in just weeks at Chelsea with a song dedicated to just how little Chelsea fans view him now.
Like Wayne Bridge I think we should drop a bid for him preferably on deadline day, just to mix things up a bit, the media don’t like us so maybe we should start having some fun.
Jesper Gronkjaer
Despite many justified detractors he always gave his all and scored one of the most important goals in our history on the final day against Liverpool in 2003.
He may have retired last year but he is younger than Giggs and Scholes and maybe he can be our older playmaker.

A Brief History of Chelsea FC – The Players Who Achieved More Before Signing For Chelsea
Previously eChelseaFC talked about the ‘Greatest XI’ that the club could field from it’s former players.
I have gone for a team which is made up of former players who have not only been quality in a Chelsea shirt, but for their achievements with other clubs. It works out as something of a ‘greatest players to have played for Chelsea’ list rather than greatest players whilst at Chelsea. Here goes…
Ed De Goey- formerly of Feyenoord, Dutch goalkeeper of the year and played for Holland at 94′ World Cup.
Albert Ferrer- Part of a fantastic Chelsea side in the late 90s, ‘Chappy’ came from Barcelona where he was a legend for being part of Johan Cruyff’s ‘dream team’ and winning the European Cup.
Ricardo Carvalho- Champions League with Porto, three league titles with Chelsea as well as two FA and League Cups. Still going strong at Real Madrid and who would bet against him getting more silverware.
Marcel Desailly- World Cup winner, Euro 2000 winner, 2 European Cups. He also won an FA Cup at Chelsea and played right through to the start of the Abramovich era. Generally regarded as one of the greatest defensive players of all time. On FIFA 100 List.
Paulo Ferreira- Not usually a left back, but Ferreira must go into this side. Having won the Champions League with Porto in 2004, he moved to Chelsea with Jose Mourinho. Now has 3 league titles to his name with the Blues and still going strong. 62 caps for Portugal.
Ruud Gullit- Part of the world beating AC Milan side in the 90s, Gullit was regarded by many as a close second to Diego Maradona during the 80s. Led Holland to Euro 88′ success before moving to Chelsea in 1996. Managed the Blues to first trophy in 26 years when they lifted the FA Cup. On FIFA 100 List.
Claude Makelele- Has won everything in the game, a player who has changed modern football more than any other after his domination of the ‘holding role’. Part of Chelsea’s back to back title winning side.
Michael Ballack- Held in extremely high esteem across Europe, Ballack had been the main man for Bayern Munchen before his move to Chelsea in 2006. Could have won more in his career but nonetheless a superb midfield leader. On FIFA 100 List.
Hernan Crespo- Hundreds of goals in Italy and Argentina, Crespo managed to break out of Gabriel Batistuta’s shadow when the great man retired after the 2002 World Cup. Lethal in front of goal, he has played for both Milan clubs. On FIFA 100 List.
George Weah- FIFA World player of the year in 1995, Weah was one of the most feared players of a generation. An FA Cup winners medal with Chelsea in 2000, he scored on his debut for the club against Spurs. On FIFA 100 List.
Andriy Shevchenko- Part of another great AC Milan side under Carlo Ancelotti, Sheva moved to Chelsea in 2006, though never hit the form he had shown in Italy. A European Cup winner and European player of the year in 2004, the Ukrainian will go down as one of the greats. On FIFA 100 List.
