Why The Media Hate Chelsea Football Club

I have read many articles over the last few years that have sought to downplay, disparage or ridicule Chelsea Football Club. Whilst some of these articles have been well researched and cover valid subject areas, there are a substantial volume of articles by writers who classify themselves as ‘neutral’ that are steeped in bias, are inaccurate or contain only a fragmented representation of the issue.

Manchester City v Chelsea Match Ratings

Chelsea lost their first game of the season as Chelsea were unable to reply to a Carlos Tevez counter attack as Manchester City played a defensive gameplan that on this occasion worked out.

Petr Cech – 7

Generally untested and left little chance with the clinical finishing for the Carlos Tevez goal

Branislav Ivanovic – 6

Decent game all in all however was often exposed defensively on a few occasions particularly in the first half

John Terry – 7

Solid defensively as Chelsea were rarely tested by the Manchester City attack, seems to be in his best form since the early days of the Mourinho reign, thank you Fabio Capello.

Alex -7

Like John Terry he was solid in general defensively despite conceding, the Brazilian’s form should improve further as he enjoys a regular run in the first team following the departure of Ricardo Carvalho

Ashley Cole – 7

Solid as ever despite being the player that was unable to stop Carlos Tevez unleashing his shot through his legs and into the bottom corner

Ramires – 5

Lost the ball frequently and seemed to struggle to cope with a muscular Man City midfield, better will come from our latest acquisition as he acclimatises to the league.

Mikel – 6

After improving performances every game this season he was overawed as Chelsea lost the midfield battle

Michael Essien – 7

Our brightest player in midfield with his strength and presence the best chance Chelsea had at establishing a foothold in the game.

Florent Malouda -6

After a blistering start to the season he was unable to make his mark on the game

Didier Drogba – 5

Totally ineffectual in a game where we needed him the most to force a breakthrough of a very defensive side, a slight blip I am sure

Nicholas Anelka – 7

Did well picking the ball up from deep but like the rest of the time lacked the penetration that Chelsea need to

Substitutes

Daniel Sturridge -6

Josh McEachran – 6
