Five Things To Be Avoided This Season

Last week, eChelseaFC looked at the things that we thought were guaranteed to happen next season, some of these were obvious whereas others were a little tongue in cheek.

With the new season just 2 weeks away, I have come up with a new list of five things that I really hope we will not see next season, some are Chelsea related others are general football gripes.

I will follow this up with the 5 things that the game would be better without next season

1) Didier Drogba reveiving treatment for ‘knocks’ every five minutes

Many times I have been in the stands and the frustration has been papable as Didier Drogba lays ‘stricken’ from man injury from which he magically recovers. Whilst glad he is ok, when this occours 3 or 4 times a match it wastes time and is not an image I want to see, lets hope this season we will see Didier Drogba the goal machine, and not neccesarily Didier Drogba the hypochondriac.

2) The Vuvuzela

Due to the almost universal bans this is almost guaranteed, however I am sure that the majority of the English match going public are glad that they will not have to suffer the Vuvuzela. They were an interesting aspect of the World Cup, but I for one am glad they will for the large part be staying in South Africa.

3) Olympic Standard Diving

Feigning injury, play acting and diving are a cancer to the game, affecting its reputation standing and enjoyment, these need to be eradicated, whilst referees will make the wrong decision from time to time but the odds of this are increased whencheating becomes part of the culture. Referees and the FA have to start punishing this retrospectively so that this can be eradicated from the general footballing culture across the league.

4) Michel Platini and Sepp Blatter In the Media

Outspoken and unpopular they continously tinker with a game that is not broken, creating issues and angering the majority of fans of their league of disdain, the Premier League.

The less these two are in the media or changing the rules of UEFA or FIFA respectively the better.

5) A heavy injury at Stamford Bridge

If Chelsea are to retain their crown, then sustaining less injuries than last season is a neccesity, Chelsea won the league despite injuries to Ashley Cole, Jose Boswinga and others that would have crippled almost any other side in the league.

Chelsea need to be lucky and avoid these injuries next season.
